Breastfeeding & Pumping

BREASTFEEDING & PUMPING – 1.5 HR PRIVATE CLASS

A customized session to meet your specific needs. We will discuss breastfeeding basics but also how to add in bottles of mom's pumped milk.  It is helpful for couples to come together or bring a support person to learn how to breastfeed and give bottles of mother's milk. 

Class Topics:  Introduction into types of pumps and bottles, proper storage of breastmilk, managing balance between breast / bottle feeding and tips on maintaining adequate supply.

New Baby Basics

BABY CARE 101 1.5 HR PRIVATE CLASS

This is the class to help alleviate the new parent jitters! You & your partner will learn the basics of newborn care in this hands on class. You will leave the class having diapered, swaddled, burped and calmed your "pretend" baby. You will also learn what is normal newborn behavior and when it is best to call the pediatrician.

Class Topics:  Normal newborn appearance, how to take care  of your baby’s eyes, umbilical cord, circumcision. What to expect for newborn development. Selecting a pediatrician. Ways to help pets cope with  your baby’s arrival. Diapering, Burping, Swaddling. Calming techniques. What to expect the first several weeks at home.

BREASTFEEDING 101 – 2 HRS PRIVATE OR GROUP

An introductory class for expectant couples who plan to breastfeed. I will take you through a comprehensive introduction into the natural world of breastfeeding.   World Health Organization Studies have shown that mothers who have taken prenatal classes on breastfeeding are more likely to meet their breastfeeding goals.
Class Topics:  What to expect in your first few days, getting baby started, understanding your baby’s cues and clues, feeding frequency, latch, how to recognize and measure effective feedings, building a sustainable milk supply, and strategies to overcome challenges that may arrise. We will focus on the first four to six weeks of breastfeeding.
